MOMENTOUS 'DIWALI' EVER

I still remember the day, in my 2nd standard. We use to have a General (Kirana) Stores, forgot to mention we used to stay in Port Quarters as my Dad is a Port employee. Our shop is one and only around Port Qrts and neighboring Bank quarters. Every one named it as 'Bank Kottu'. Every day from 5:30 AM to 9:15 AM Dad used to look after the shop and Mom used to make us ready for school arranging everything and finally drop us at school and return to shop. She use to close the shop by ten less twelve and rush back home to pack  lunch for 3Idiots, me, bro and Sis. Dad after his day job used to look after the shop till 10 P.M. After school we used to study at shop, it has a beautiful veranda. Sometimes we are entertained by snakes too, frightened but adventurous. Every day evening without fail we used to have our snacks, Mom never missed. Time to time we used to eat something or the other and she never left us with empty stomach or delayed in our food timings till today. They never use to discuss about financial matters in front of us. One day they planned and decided to bring Diwali crackers from Sivakasi for business. I don’t know exactly how much they spent for it but I  know that they bought the material on loan & for interest. Our shop was totally filled with crackers one side and same time Dad filled the shop with all other general materials as it is festival season. I should mention about one thing now; we used to have a two wheeler TVS 50. Still with us. Dad used to bring some items on that placing between the petrol tank and seat. One week before Diwali, shop is filled with every thing as my parents knew they both should be at shop to manage as they are going to do lot of business this week. My maternal aunt stayed with us to look after 3Idiots. Week before the same night terrible thing happened. Thieves broke into our shop breaking the keys of main door and robbed every thing leaving few 5 paise chocolates and other minor things. This incident was swallowed boldly by my parents and ignored in front of us as if nothing happened. Not even a single day or single time my Dad or Mom ever showed frustration on us. We three are lucky to have wonderful parents like them. Thanks to God, who made us financially weak but never let their spirit come down. Again they arranged everything thing and opened the shop again. The immediate year they did not sell cracker due to financial problem but the next year I am in fourth standard our shop was robbed again. This time the robber's are more intelligent, as we secured the main door strongly. They knew that there is one more door at the back that we used to lock internally. Our Bank Kottu roof is with terracotta tiles. They removed the tiles and dropped in and opened the back door and robbed everything. Till now and even today this Diwali memory will never erase for me. Thanks to God for taking away the money but never the spirit of my Mom and Dad. After that we started multiple business but we could not establish properly. Today my Mom runs a school “SRI SATYA SAI VIDYA PEETH’ and I was student from the same school. My bro was also student from the same and now he is the Principal. One thing I should mention about my mom, she is an example for ‘NEVER EVER GIVE UP’. The hard work she does till now and extreme support from my Dad....Love you Mom, Love you Dad. You have been more than friends with us (3Idiots) and we share the same way forever….Love You :)
